A Week 5 Recap

In some less obvious ways, the Tennessee Titans are in an all too familiar situation, one painfully reminiscent of years past. And that’s a bad thing.

Your father’s Titans have been in this situation before, and have come out the other side worse off. Heading into their Week 5 game against the Bills, the Tennessee Titans were given little chance of winning against an undefeated juggernaut.

Sure, Tennessee was undefeated as well, but having not played a game in 16 days, having needed to eke out close wins against some of the NFL’s basement dwellers, and being short-handed on defense against one of the league’s best offenses, expectations for the Titans were low.

But as fate would have it, Tennessee came ready to flip the script. Mike Vrabel had the Titans prepared at every level, and a strong defensive performance helped Tennessee to their first blowout win of the season, one that very few people saw coming. Now with the nation buying as much Titans stock as they can, this team will have a chance against a lowly 1-4 Texans team to prove that they belong. They’ve earned the attention, for now. They’ve earned the respect, for now. And to hold onto it, all that needs to happen is for the Titans to beat a team that everyone expects them to beat.

Does this situation sound familiar? Because it should.
