What does he have left and how much will it cost?

The New York Giants posted a video on their account showing exactly what I mean when I say that Tate is a good fill-in for A.J. Brown’s role. This is from last season:

He clearly has plenty left in the tank, and the Tennessee Titans are one injury away from needing to play Cam Batson and Kalif Raymond as the starters. That just can’t happen to a team with playoff aspirations that aren’t getting what they need from the running game yet.

Assuming that the Giants rework his contract to make it work for the Titans, then I think you could argue that a 4th round pick is the right price for Golden Tate and a 6th round pick.

In 2018 the Eagles got him for a 3rd round pick knowing that they would likely get a compensatory pick to offset that loss, which they did (a 4th round pick). Given his age and the role he would play, this feels like a deal worth roughly the equivalent of a 5th round pick, but Tennessee Titans GM has made magic with 5th round picks and he loves to trade 4th round picks so I made that work.

For Giants fans, a quick mock draft of what a four-round draft class with the extra pick could look like, I used PFN’s mock draft simulator and got:

1: Ja’Marr Chase WR, LSU

2: Wyatt Davis iOL, Ohio State

3: Journey Brown RB, Penn State

4: Garret Wallow LB, TCU

4: Justyn Ross WR, Clemson

So the Giants get more cap space and a pick that turns into Justyn Ross and the Titans get a player that helps solidify their offense as they push to make it beyond the AFC Championship Game this season.

Win-Wins are fun.
