24. Detroit Lions (+0)
The Lions lost against the Green Bay Packers today, and they lost by three scores but despite that, I feel exactly the same way about them this week as I did last week. They are a talented team that executes poorly and has a bad coach, but who could get Kenny Golladay back and go on a tear.
Defense is never going to be Detroit’s strong suit, but that is what is going to completely tank the season for this team if they aren’t very careful in the next few weeks. But, we know what this team is and they are a year away…except next year they will pick 12-18th in the draft and won’t be in a position to get someone great barring an injury.
So it is just groundhog’s day in Detroit.
23. Indianapolis Colts (+2)
This may seem like a small rise for a team that won big on Sunday, but this team has a major flaw and that flaw is Philip Rivers.
The quarterback position is broken and if not for the Vikings throwing three interceptions in that game while completely collapsing, there is a good chance we would be talking about a rushing attack that wasn’t working as well as the names suggest and a QB in Rivers who has thrown 4 INTs (one waved off for a penalty) in two games.
Defensively the Colts looked good, but unless you have a truly elite defense in the NFL, there isn’t a huge difference in the 10th best defense and the 20th best defense.
