3. Nate Davis

Ryan Tannehill was only sacked once on Monday, and that one sack can’t really be blamed on the Titans o-line. However, that’s not to say the line played great, as they struggled all night to open up running lanes for Derrick Henry. Davis also was flagged for a false start, which is harder to excuse considering crowd noise was not a factor.

Nate Davis was very underwhelming in Week 1, finishing with a below-average PFF grade of 60.0, by far the lowest of the starting linemen. Davis struggled all night with blocking the likes of Shelby Harris, Mike Purcell, and old friend Jurrell Casey.

To top it all off, Ty Sambrailo looked solid as a fill-in for tackle Taylor Lewan in the 2nd half and when a backup offensive tackle outclasses your starting right guard, that is a concern.

Davis is still young, but you’ve got to believe the Titans’ brass is expecting more out of Davis than he’s shown this far. Offensive line coach Keith Carter is supposed to be in year two of polishing this draft diamond, but so far not so good.

Jacksonville may no longer be “Sacksonville”, but they still employ a solid defensive front that includes three former 1st round picks. If Davis can hold his own in Week 2, it would make life much easier for Derrick Henry and Ryan Tannehill.

If Davis falters again, expect Henry to have more trouble picking up chunks of yardage, and last year he showed that he does become a better blocker as the season goes on, so there is hope.
