3 Titans who need to bounce back.

The Tennessee Titans escaped Denver with a win in week 1, beating the Denver Broncos 16-14.

This was not one of the prettier wins in recent memory, but every win is crucial in an NFL season. This win was even more important when you factor in the Colts and Texans losing in week 1, giving the Titans an early leg up on the competition in the AFC South. Another reason this game was so important was that the Denver Broncos seem to figure into the 7-team AFC playoff picture down the road and tie-breakers matter.

One of the bright spots in this win was Corey Davis. The former top-5 pick tallied 101 yards on 7 receptions, a welcome sight for Titan fans hoping to see Davis live up to his draft status. If Davis can keep up this level of play, the Titans offense will be in good shape.

Oh, and Derrick Henry eclipsed 100 yards again, but that’s a feat that is almost expected every week and since he wasn’t particularly efficient we will save his praise for a future post.

But as I said, this was an ugly win, so naturally, there were a few ugly performances. Rashaan Evans, one of the more promising linebackers in the league, foolishly got himself ejected for throwing a punch in the first quarter.

Wide receivers not named Corey Davis were inconsistent and dropped catchable balls. The young secondary got exposed at times and the clearly missed key leaders like Adoree Jackson and Logan Ryan. The kicking game was eerily reminiscent of 2019, and even though it didn’t cost the Titans the game, you would be hard-pressed to find a recap that didn’t mention Stephen Gostkowski quickly.

Certain players will have to step up if the Titans plan on challenging the better teams in the AFC. Starting in week 2 against a bad Jacksonville Jaguars team, here are three players who need a bounce back game.
