Josh Rosen, Quarterback

The Titans made a move to cut Cole McDonald, their 7th round draft pick from the 2020 NFL Draft, earlier this offseason. After signing Trevor Siemian mid-August, the Titans decided to cut him as well, leaving the team with two quarterbacks on the roster.

Ryan Tannehill is the unquestioned starter for the team but they need some depth added behind him. Logan Woodside is the current backup for Tannehill, but he has not taken an NFL snap. If the Titans want to be relevant this season in case Tannehill goes down with an injury, they might want to look at the available free agent quarterback market now.

I think the best available player may be former first-round quarterback Josh Rosen. Rosen was cut by the Miami Dolphins after failing to find any trade partners. Rosen has had an underwhelming career after being drafted tenth in the 2018 NFL Draft.

Rosen has not had a chance to prove himself after playing on two extremely dysfunctional teams. The Cardinals quickly jumped ship from Rosen after his rookie year and the Dolphins opted to go for a more proven leader in Ryan Fitzpatrick last season in a tank season.

Rosen is a prototypical, clean passer with great arm strength. He has the potential to really succeed in the NFL. The Titans can opt to sign Rosen low and a cheap contract and have him sit and learn behind Tannehill and the Titans coaching staff.

Rosen won’t be vying for a starting position but he has the potential to be one of the best backups in the league. Tannehill has had injury and durability concerns in the past and Rosen can be that pick up for the Titans to ensure this team doesn’t crumble in case of injury.
