Connecting some dots

Sheil Kapadia had an article today in The Athletic listing the top available free agents, and at this point, if you bring in someone then you have to be willing to commit to them quickly since cut day is right around the corner.

So, it only makes sense to bring people in that you have faith in to play sooner rather than later. Titans fans got to see a quiet work out and signing two weeks ago when Trevor Siemian was brought in.

He is an interesting test study because right now he is practicing behind Logan Woodside, so the Titans might carry three quarterbacks into camp this season if they are committed to taking it slow with Siemian.

These are some players I can see the Titans bringing in at this point.

Jadeveon Clowney, EDGE

-We all know about this.

Damon Harrison, DT

-Jon Robinson was rumored to be interested in Harrison a few years ago, and if the Titans decide to bolster the interior of the defense then Harrison would be a massive upgrade over Matt Dickerson.

Josh Gordon, WR

-Gordon should be on an NFL team this season and as soon as his suspension gets lifted I expect several teams to be interested. Somehow Josh Gordon is just 29 years old and if you ask him to be a very limited receiver in his first year, you could slowly ease him into the offense and decide how you want to spend your resources next offseason knowing a big year from Corey Davis or Gordon could be huge.

Also, the New England Patriots gave him a shot last season and he did well, so that might work in his favor with this front office and weed is legal in the NFL now so his biggest hurdles should be behind him from a suspension standpoint.

Clay Matthews, EDGE

-Matthews is part of one of the most famous football families in the game, and you might have heard of his uncle Bruce who has his name hanging in the Titans Ring of Honor. Matthews is older and he isn’t going to be a star, but he had 8 sacks last year and I have a feeling that the team that misses out on Clowney is going to have Matthews on the phone quickly.

If Derick Roberson is really hurt (please, no) then this is better than relying too much on Vic Beasley who may be going full Kevin Pamphile this season.
