Good news, bad news for another UDFA?

I bring up Dzubnar, but he isn’t the player who is in trouble if Will Compton gets signed. At least that isn’t the guy I would immediately look at.

Instead, I would put money on Cale Garrett being the guy that ends up on the practice squad because of a move like this. The UDFA LB from Missouri had a good college career, but he had an injury in his senior season, why not stash him on the practice squad and see if you can develop him down the road?

In fact, there might not be a better person for Garrett to learn from than Will Compton who is an UDFA success story.

Both players were born in Missouri, both come from good conferences, both were four-year starters, and both were captains their senior seasons. Even stylistically you can see similarities between the two as sideline to sideline defenders who make their money in the box.

The Titans let Wesley Woodyard, Logan Ryan and Jurrell Casey go this offseason. The defensive backs have second-contract veterans in Kenny Vaccaro, Malcolm Butler and Kevin Byard while the defensive line has Daquan Jones to take over the mantle of the veteran leader.

Jayon Brown and Rashaan Evans are both great players, but their experience as starters really only goes back to the middle of 2018. Adding Will Compton gives them another savvy vet in the locker room who isn’t just there to be an assistant coach, but who also offers something on the field on special teams and as a role player. Also, it should be said that the locker room and coaching staff LOVE Compton.

This move seems very simple to me, sign the boy.
