Willie Jefferson, EDGE

Jefferson seems like the defensive presence in the CFL with 3-straight All-star appearances.

While the big knock on someone like Brandon Banks is his size, Jefferson wouldn’t have that problem standing at 6’7, 245 lb and he has really figured out how to get better and better during his time in the CFL.

In each of the last three seasons he has added at least two sacks to his game finishing with 8, then 10, then 12 in 2019 where his team also won the league championship. In 2019 he also won their version of the Defensive Player of the Year which is just another feather in his cap.

Jefferson seemed to struggle to abide by the rules in college and during his short stint in the NFL, but at this point that was seven years ago and it seems like a good time to give the 29-year old from Stephen F. Austin another shot.

Best case scenario you get a new Cameron Wake, but on a much smaller scale, but the worst case is that you bring him in and he gives you added size and depth but isn’t good enough to make the team. That feels like it would be worth finding out for a minimum contract.
