No change at kicker

The Titans only made one (half-hearted) attempt to bring in competition for late-season acquisition Greg Joseph. That was when they signed Tucker McCann to a deal as an UDFA out of Missouri.

McCann isn’t a bad player, but he isn’t a great kicker which may sound like a contradiction. In his last season at Missouri, McCann was a kicker, punter, and kick-off man, so basically any time you needed someone with a leg you called him.

That is a very useful person to have in camp and he is even more useful if he surprises you by suddenly becoming a kicker who can actually score points for your team. However, it looks like he hasn’t quite been able to do that since through two practices he has gone 8/10 vs Joseph’s 10/10.

I think McCann is the perfect candidate for the new 16-man practice squad because he can really help keep your kicker/punter’s fresh for games while also honing his skills as a special teams player.
