Jamal Davis

You probably haven’t heard that Jamal Davis is spending time with the Titans right now, but the name shouldn’t be a complete mystery to you. Coming out of college he was an interesting prospect whose traits were more intriguing that his sack production:

The production wasn’t all bad though, in fact he actually was great at getting in the backfield and making plays on everyone other than the quarterback. After transferring from Pitt to Akron, he spent his two years on the team amassing 7.5 sacks and 31.5 TFLs.

Right now, if you have a chance to take a shot on a player, it is a better gamble to spend that time on someone who has incredible athleticism but who might just need time adjusting to the increased level of competition in the NFL.

If the Titans are looking for more speed off the EDGE or someone who can be a hybrid player to back up EDGE and LB (what he played at Pitt before transferring) and play some special teams, Davis could have a shot at this roster.

Again, all of that is only if he signs, but with all the turnover or restrictions at the EDGE position, the Titans may just want to scrap their current plans and bring back a familiar face.
