Ryan Kerrigan, EDGE

There is no reason for Ryan Kerrigan to stay with the Washington Football Team, and there is no way that they think that he is a long term answer.

For four straight years, Washington has drafted defensive linemen or EDGEs, including back to back picks on Montez Sweat and Chase Young. There really isn’t a way to optimize the front seven to get all five of these guys involved.

Kerrigan is the oldest of this group at 32, he is a free agent after this season and he is coming off of a down year after missing 4 games.

Logically, the best they can hope for is to get a 3rd round compensatory pick back, but that would involve Washington letting him go in free agency and still not spending in money. I don’t see that as a possibility.

The Titans have depth at EDGE, but Kerrigan is more like Harold Landry than the rest of the EDGEs on this roster. He isn’t a liability vs the run and he is someone you feel really comfortable with in any situation.

Jadeveon Clowney is a possibility right now, but he seems to be drawing this process out for as long as he can. If the Titans front office gets annoyed, they could move on pretty easily by offering a Day 3 pick for Kerrigan.
