Round 2: Jaycee Horn

Round 2: Jaycee Horn CB, South Carolina (replaces Malcolm Butler)

This is another really interesting fit that I would be very interested in. Right now, the Titans have three cornerbacks who do a lot of the same things and that is very good because it gives you consistency.

The problem is that they really don’t have anyone with the size to deal with bigger receivers every down. Sure, they can hold their own against the top receivers in the game but if you match Malcolm Butler up with someone who is 6’3 and you do that for an entire game, eventually he is going to lose one or two of those reps because of the height difference.

Horn stands at 6’1 and he has the arm length to really affect the passing lanes of quarterbacks when he plays zone defense. He seems to understand what responsibilities he has presnap and is good at communicating with the DBs around him which is huge for his transition to the Titans defense that talks a lot.

Another plus for Horn is that he has lined up in the slot before and that is something that Kristian Fulton has done a little of, but something that Adoree Jackson didn’t do any of in college.

Adding Horn would give them the flexibility inside that they had when Logan Ryan was in Tennessee where they can either start out with Adoree Jackson and Kristian Fulton on the field and then bring Horn to play in the slot, or they could start with Jackson and Horn on the field and then bring Fulton on and kick Horn inside.

This would fill a major need at a premium position and it would check the boxes for a Jon Robinson top-64 pick so I am on board.
