A very interesting 2021 NFL Mock Draft.
The Tennessee Titans haven’t even started training camp, but let’s take a look ahead to what could be on the horizon for this team in the 2021 NFL Draft.
Obviously there are a lot of questions for both the NFL and the NCAA in terms of when football will resume, but there is no way to predict any of that.
With MLB starting to have practice games to get ready for their season next week, and with the NBA and NHL right behind them, sports are almost back in America. So, as we prepare to try to get to as close to normal as we can, why don’t fans take a quick step back from the immediate questions and look at some more fun things down the lin.e.
To that end, there is a 2021 NFL Mock Draft that I want to talk about, and that is this one from Luke Easterling.
When I look at mock drafts right now, I look for two things that have been incredibly helpful in figuring out what the Titans will do. Any draft projection in the top-64 right now needs to check both of these boxes:
-Do they play for an SEC team?
-Are they at a position of immediate need?
Why are those my two main questions? Well, in the last three years, 5 of the 6 selections in that range would have been a “yes” to both of those answers:
2020: Isaiah Wilson OT, UGA (replaces Jack Conklin)
2020: Kristian Fulton CB, LSU (replaces Logan Ryan)
2019: Jeffery Simmons DL, Mississippi State (replaced Bennie Logan and Darius Kilgo, eventually replaced Jurrell Casey and Austin Johnson)
2019: A.J. Brown WR, Ole Miss (replaced Rishard Matthews/Taywan Taylor)
2018: Rashaan Evans LB, Alabama (replaced Avery Williamson)
2018: Harold Landry EDGE, (replaced Kevin Dodd/Erik Walden and eventually Brian Orakpo and Derrick Morgan)
The only outlier is Harold Landry who played a huge position of need and was a consensus first round talent that fell due to an ankle injury pre-draft.
In Easterling’s 2021 NFL Mock Draft he gave the Titans two players that fit those prerequisites.
