4. Some big names on the market
That is a lot of negativity and talk about cuts, but whenever there is an issue like this someone has to profit from it. In this case, the teams with the money in 2021 will have a shot at some truly great talents because other teams just can’t afford to make a serious play for them.
Remember that list of teams that have to pay QBs from earlier? Well if the Titans make their moves and if common sense prevails with those teams, that means that Tennessee would end up near the top-5 in cap space for 2021.
Here is a list of names currently on pace to be free agents in 2021 that could intrigue the Titans:
WR: A.J. Green, Allen Robinson, Keenan Allen, Corey Davis, Will Fuller, Kenny Golladay, Curtis Samuel, Cooper Kupp, Juju Smith-Schuster, Kenny Stills,
EDGE: Yannick Ngakoue, Matt Judon, Melvin Ingram, Bud Dupree, Shaquil Barrett, Justin Houston, Jadeveon Clowney, Ryan Kerrigan, Olivier Vernon, Joey Bosa, Carl Lawson,
DL: Leonard Williams, Cameron Heyward, Kenny Clark, and Sheldon Rankins.
RB (just in case): Derrick Henry, Aaron Jones, Dalvin Cook, Joe Mixon, Alvin Kamara, Kenyan Drake, and Phillip Lindsay
Those are absolutely stacked groups and they are coming right before a draft that is going to be loaded at WR and RB.
Just playing this hypothetical out, an offseason full of RBs becoming available could push Derrick Henry right back to the Titans on a long term deal while the Titans come away with Cameron Heyward and Ryan Kerrigan in free agency.
Then they could follow that up by going with their standard back to back SEC picks to start the draft and land DeVonta Smith and Najee Harris from Alabama.
That would be making lemonades out of lemons in this situation, but again it is important to remember that it might feel a little tense for fans as we wait on potential decisions.
