Are the Titans one-year wonders?

For some reason (probably because nobody really watched either during the season) the comparison gets thrown around that the Tennessee Titans are the 2017 Jacksonville Jaguars all over again.

That is just a person doing their job poorly.

This is a fantastic tweet showing why the Titans aren’t like either the 2017 Jaguars or the 2018 Chicago Bears:

It really doesn’t get any better than that. Both the Bears and the Jaguars were defensive led teams and we have learned time and time again that even if a team brings back 100% of their defensive starters from the year before, there is a good chance that they can’t repeat that level of production.

Despite the misconception, the Titans were an above-average defense that was led by the offense and you could argue that towards the end of the season they were being carried by the offense.

With more depth at running back to prevent a dropoff and with consistency in offensive coaching, the Titans should be able to be an offensive team and over time it is the offense and not defense that is sustainable in the NFL.

So no, the Titans aren’t either of those teams and their now established culture of winning makes the much less likely to regress than nearly any team in the NFL.

Any questions?
