Time for Titans to trade for Kansas City Chiefs star Chris Jones
By Will Lomas
Jadeveon Clowney or Chris Jones?
The answer to this from Titans fans should be, “Either is great, thanks!” but we are trying to decide the best course of action for this team.
Right now, that means that fans need to figure out whether they believe that Chris Jones is a “force multiplier” that will make everyone around him better. Historically he has done that on top of performing at an elite level as an interior pass rusher himself.
Jadeveon Clowney’s potential is less tangible. He doesn’t have stats that jump off of the page, but when you watch him play you can see how the constant attention being paid to him allows other people to do more.
Plus, it doesn’t hurt that Clowney is probably cheaper than Jones and wouldn’t cost you a first round pick.
I trust Jon Robinson and while that may seem like I am going to say that he should keep the first round pick, that isn’t where I am going with this. Instead, look at the 2nd round picks that he has made since taking the job in Tennessee.
Derrick Henry, A.J. Brown, Harold Landry, and Kristian Fulton have all been 2nd round picks and that is an outstanding list of players that probably should have gone in the 1st round in retrospect.
Why not bolster your team with an elite talent now and then rely on that resume of 2nd round stars to support that decision?
