Chris Jones threat to Chiefs

Chris Jones knew exactly what this offseason was going to look like when he got the franchise tag and when the Chiefs decided they didn’t want to offer Jones $20 million per year he threatened to sit out the season.

Now, he refers to Le’Veon Bell in this tweet which might rub people the wrong way because he sat out and signed a massive contract only to play absolutely terribly in 2019. But the part there that makes it enticing is that Bell did get his money.

So the NFL has already shown that they will pay for the potential of a player who sits out a year, even if it is an older running back who has shouldered the workload of an offense. If Bell can make that kind of money, imagine what Jones could make.

All of this means that the Chiefs aren’t going to be able to keep Jones or at least if they do, they might not get anything out of him in 2020. You know who has money and could get a lot out of him?

The Tennessee Titans.
