2. Preseason offensive line

The Tennessee Titans entered this game with Jamil Douglas starting at right guard and with Dennis Kelly starting (out of position really) at left tackle. When you consider that Rodger Saffold was still very much finding his footing with Tennessee, then it is amazing that this offense could move at all.

It is interesting because looking back, this was a game where I thought Dennis Kelly would have a solid day, but I came away unimpressed with his tape. Now, I should say again that looking over the last two years worth of film, it looks like Kelly is he inverse of Lewan in that he is much better on the right side than the left.

Also, we don’t talk enough about the rash of injuries on the interior of the offensive line for the Titans. Rodger Saffold, Nate Davis and Kevin Pamphile all missed time in the early season or in the preseason and those were the three best guards on the roster.

If Nate Davis and Rodger Saffold had gotten a full offseasons worth of work with the rest of the offensive line, just how good could they have been?
