Tennessee Titans fans think defense needs more help than offense

Titans fans want another star on defense.

For the first time in a long time, Tennessee Titans fans are more confident in their offense than their defense.

This shouldn’t be a surprise after seeing what the Tannehill-led Titans looked like, but when I asked fans whether they wanted to see an elite player added to the offensive or defensive side of the ball, defense won out.

Maybe that is underselling just what the difference in voting looked like. At the end of the day, defense won by an 83%-17% margin.

That is an astounding difference and maybe some of that is due to the fact that I excluded QB from the offensive side of the ball.

I guess it makes sense when you consider that the Titans do have an elite talent at each position group on the offensive side of the ball. Taylor Lewan is arguably the best left tackle in the NFL and Rodger Saffold is very close to being one of the best left guards in the NFL.

Derrick Henry and A.J. Brown are undoubtedly one of the best RB/WR tandems in the NFL, rivaled only by the likes of Alvin Kamara/Michael Thomas for the New Orleans Saints, Ezekiel Elliott/Amari Cooper for the Dallas Cowboys and Nick Chubb and either Jarvis Landry or Odell Beckham of the Cleveland Browns.

Do they have options there?

It is weird because the Titans do actually have a chance to add some elite talent on the defensive side of the ball. I am going to write more about it later, but the list has to start with Jadeveon Clowney because he is the only free agent of that caliber left on the market.

However, there are several high profile defensive players around the NFL who are either unhappy with their current contract or they are on a franchise tag with a team that there is no future with.

I don’t know if I expect any moves here other than the potential signing of Clowney, but with the 2020 NFL Supplemental Draft now canceled, I’m not sure. This would have been the ideal year for the Titans to use a 3rd round pick on someone they love considering they should have an extra 3rd round pick thanks to Jack Conklin.

However, if they were thinking about doing something like that, then the cancellation of that draft makes it just slightly more possible that the Titans could make a move in the trade market.
