Jadeveon Clowney is interested in the Dallas Cowboys and Saints, but the Titans are still possible.
Jadeveon Clowney is still unsigned as we continue to wait out the very long and drawn out “Clowney Watch”. He has reportedly expressed interest in signing with several teams, with the Dallas Cowboys and New Orleans Saints being the latest mentioned.
During the most recent episode of the NFL Draft Insiders podcast, Andy Herman and Tony Pauline discussed some of the latest news surrounding the star defensive lineman and his quest for a team. Tony Pauline stated Jadeveon Clowney “wouldn’t mind” playing for the Dallas Cowboys or New Orleans Saints in 2020.
"“The team that immediately comes to mind is the Tennessee Titans” Pauline said, “I was told the two teams on Clowney’s list as far as where he would like to end up are the Dallas Cowboys and the New Orleans Saints. He would definitely help both of those teams. Both teams are a little cap strapped” Tony Pauline on Jadeveon Clowney"
Neither team that Jadeveon Clowney expressed interest in joining has anywhere near the amount of cap space to pay him his asking price. According to ESPN, Jadeveon Clowney’s last known asking price was between $17-18 million.
"Clowney is now seeking a number closer to $17 million to $18 million, and the Seattle Seahawks and Tennessee Titans remain “interested” in signing the three-time Pro Bowl selection, sources told ESPN. Titans general manager Jon Robinson said Wednesday that the team has been in touch with Clowney’s agents. via ESPN"
Of course, the Cowboys and Saints could make roster moves to clear up space for Jadeveon Clowney, but they’ll want to at least have their doctors take a look at him before making any substantial moves.
As of now, the Cowboys have just over $11 million in cap space, per Over the Cap, and the New Orleans Saints have just under $9 million. Neither of those numbers will be enough to sign Clowney based on the offseason so far.
