Which Tennessee Titans DT will have more sacks?

The Tennessee Titans have always been a team with good defensive tackles, and while that isn’t the flashiest position group it has been very good for the fans in Nashville.

Right now we are seeing a changing of the guard at defensive tackle. Jurrell Casey was shipped off for cap space and a pick that is currently a 6th round pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.

More importantly, the Titans now have the chance to see what a healthy Jeffery Simmons can do with a true workload. I don’t want to get too ahead of myself, because we only saw Simmons for about 10 weeks, but it is easy to see how much potential he has.

That is incredibly important to the success that the Titans have in 2020, but when you replace someone at the top, that means elevation of the entire position group.

The starters will now be Jeffery Simmons (former DT3) and Daquan Jones (former DT2), but someone has to step up to become that DT3.

While that may not seem like a key position, but last year Isaiah Mack and Jeffery Simmons more or less combined to be the DT3 (given that Simmons missed such a big chunk of time early in the year).

Together, those two played 569 snaps. That number is more than MyCole Pruitt, Dion Lewis and Tajae Sharpe, just for reference.

By himself, Simmons played more snaps than Adam Humphries, Marcus Mariota, Delanie Walker, and Anthony Firkser.
