Brate would be big for the Titans.

The Tennessee Titans tight end room is more than the sum of its parts. Jonnu Smith is much better than his stats might indicate, and you could say the same thing (to a lesser extent) about MyCole Pruitt and Anthony Firkser.

However, none of them have had the consistency in the redzone that Brate has had averaging 6 touchdowns per year with very little fluctuation.

Where do the Titans need to replace targets? In the redzone where they lost Delanie Walker and Tajae Sharpe.

Now I know you can just run it in with Henry every time, but there is a reason why those TD passes to offensive tackles have been so effective. When the Titans go heavy, defenses have to get bigger bodies on the field to make sure that they can battle Henry.

Adding Brate to this offense would work to give them a target to bring out in those 2TE sets that could be another security blanket for Ryan Tannehill, but the difference is that (according to PFF) he is a better run blocker than either Jonnu Smith or MyCole Pruitt.

So on paper, the Titans get better at run blocking in a year where they need everyone to step up to help replace Jack Conklin’s impact on the running game. Good.

They get better with their short-area and red zone passing game which should already see a boost with Adam Humphries more involved this year. Good.

Where is the downside here?
