Front office connections
I started off with front office connections here, but really this team is intertwined in so many ways throughout their recent history.
The big one and the most relevant connection between the two teams is that Jon Robinson and Jason Licht worked together for a decade in New England. That relationship provided Robinson with his first “big” job as the right-hand man to the Bucs GM when the team had some of their most successful offseasons.
Robinson quickly thrived and transitioned to being a GM himself and helping reshape the Titans into a winning organization.
Beyond that, Mike Vrabel and Tom Brady are very close and that is why so many people thought that Brady would end up in Tennessee for the 2020 season. The team felt Ryan Tannehill was better and stuck with him, but that doesn’t mean that Vrabel and Brady are any less close.
You know these relationships are still good because in 2018 the Titans and Bucs had a joint training camp before Mike Vrabel came to town, and then this year they were scheduled to do the same thing after the Titans pairing up with the New England Patriots (and Tom Brady) in 2019.
If there is any pair of teams that would be willing to help each other out (especially if it helped both) it would be the Titans and the Bucs.
