Larrell Murchison:

Rotational player to split time with Isaiah Mack and Jack Crawford

The Titans fifth-round pick, interior defensive lineman Larrell Murchison will have the advantage of joining what might be the weakest position group on the Tennessee roster. They have two sure-fire starters in Jeffrey “Big Jeff” Simmons and Daquan Jones, but outside of those two players, the defensive line is a little murky.

It would probably be safe to bet on one of two players getting the starting nod on day one over Murchison, either returning defensive tackle Isaiah Mack or free-agent acquisition Jack Crawford. But neither Mack nor Crawford are especially ‘jaw-dropping’ talents, potentially leaving the door wide open for a player like Murchison to sneak into some rookie-year playing time.

It might be unrealistic to expect Murchison to blossom from fifth-round pick to Pro Bowl starter in his first year in the league, but the dream scenario for the Titans with the rookie should be to have him rotate around with Mack and Crawford and earn some starting minutes. And who knows, maybe with that early experience under his belt, Murchison could develop into the permanent solution at defensive tackle over the next few seasons.
