What was the defense like?

D-Line

The Titans defensive line was very young and promising at this time. Derrick Morgan, Sen,Derrick Marks, Jurrell Casey, and Kamerion Wimbley were the regular starters, and the group managed 17 sacks. Adding to the defensive line wasn’t a necessity heading into the draft, but a Sen’Derrick Marks replacement wouldn’t have been the worst thing in the world.

Linebackers

Zach Brown had an amazing rookie season in 2012. 5.5 sacks, 3 interceptions, and 2 fumbles recovered were all contributors to that. Akeem Ayers was a good linebacker as well. Middle linebacker was definitely a weak position for the Titans, though, with Colin McCarthy going into his 3rd season in 2013.

Defensive Backs

In 2012, the Titans only weakness in the secondary was Jordan Babineaux at SS. Jason McCourty, Alterraun Verner, and Michael Griffin filled the other positions to make a very solid core in the secondary. Fortunately in the offseason the team added Bernard Pollard, which filled a need so the Titans wouldn’t have to spend a pick on SS during the 2013 NFL Draft.

Needs

The Tennessee Titans for sure needs heading into the 2013 NFL Draft were IOL, WR, IDL, QB, and RB. So let’s take a look at how the draft could have panned out much better for the Titans, assuming all other teams drafted the same way.
