Position matters
Kristian Fulton is coming into the NFL with the full expectations of being a cornerback who can do it all. While the immediate need is for someone to replace Logan Ryan in the slot, there is a really good chance that he will be a starting boundary cornerback for the team by the end of the season.
That is important because over the last decade there have only been four positions to make it:
-EDGE (3 times)
-Off ball linebacker (3 times)
-Cornerback (2 times)
-Defensive tackle (2 times)
-Safeties (0 times)
-Hybrid players (0 times)
That is important.
What is also important is that the only two defensive tackles to when DRoY were Ndamukong Suh in a career year and Sheldon Richardson in a tight race and bad rookie class for defenders.
It would be incredibly hard to see a defensive tackle taking the award home this season.
So then it is most likely going to come down to EDGE, LB and CB.
