How well do the Titans match up against Jaguars, Texans, and Colts

Indianapolis Colts

While grading Houston as an F, which I think is appropriate, Martin Fenn of Bleacher Report graded the Indianapolis Colts offseason as an A which is a bit high to me. Philip Rivers will be the Colts starting quarterback in 2020. While three years ago this would’ve been a great pick up, I think the Colts caught Rivers a bit too late in his career. Philip Rivers also won’t have the same caliber of weapons as he had with the Charger. With that being said, Rivers is still capable of having a mediocre season.

The biggest addition to me for the Indianapolis Colts is DT Deforest Buckner. Buckner is relentless on the defensive line. Tennessee Titans interior offensive linemen Nate Davis, Ben Jones, and Roger Saffold will have their hands full with the 6’7 defensive tackle.

The Colts defense will be a force to be reckoned with. Players like Buckner, Xavier Rhodes, and Darius Leonard will wreak havoc on opposing offenses. They aren’t just a defensive powerhouse, though. The Colts spent some early draft picks loading up on offense, adding WR Michael Pittman and RB Jonathan Taylor.

Jonathan Taylor is a breakout rookie candidate in my opinion. Although the Colts still have Marlon Mack, Taylor will still get plenty of touches to utilize his cheap rookie deal. Jonathan Taylor has the perfect set up to perform well as a rookie. With Marlon Mack still on the squad he does not have pressure to perform as the featured back, and defenses won’t be able to stack the box with Phillip Rivers throwing to T.Y. Hilton and Michael Pittman. I see Taylor, who scored 50 touchdowns in his three years at Wisconsin, easily breaking double digits for rushing touchdowns next season.

The Colts are the main threat to the Tennessee Titans in the AFC South. I think their star-studded defense will allow them to beat the Titans at home causing a 1-1 split between the teams.

I believe the Tennessee Titans will finish 5-1 in the AFC South. With an 11-5 overall record, I think the Titans will take the AFC South for the first time in over a decade and will play a playoff game in Nissan Stadium for the first time since it was renamed.
