Logan Ryan is more than what you see on the field.

It is hard to describe exactly what sort of impact a player like Logan Ryan has on the locker room, but by all accounts he is someone that makes everyone around him better.

Call it “culture” or “work ethic” or “leadership” or whatever you want to say, but when Logan Ryan enters a locker room, people stop collecting paychecks and get to work.

For the Titans, it was Logan Ryan and Kerry Coombs who instilled that “My man catch no balls” mantra and during his time in Tennessee, it was the defensive backs who led the defense.

He held a leadership role with the Titans despite playing in front of the best safety in the NFL and his relationship with Kevin Byard along with others has helped shape the attitude of the Titans defense.

The Jets are going to get someone who can help elevate Jamal Adams to a level near what Kevin Byard is doing now and if he can do that, it would make Adams the best defensive player the Jets have had since pre-Pats Darrelle Revis.

While the price will make a difference, the fact is that if the Jets sign Logan Ryan it will be a great move by a franchise that is adding a piece that the Titans just couldn’t justify keeping this offseason. It has nothing to do with a lack of talent and it is one of the few late offseason signings without a catch involved.
