Indianapolis Colts

QB/WR duo ranked: 10th (Philip Rivers/T.Y. Hilton)

The only other team in the AFC South with a QB/WR pair mentioned, the Colts are living off of a lot of name value here.

Both Rivers and Hilton saw massive drops in production/efficiency last year, and while everyone is quick to point to Rivers age (39) it is being ignored that T.Y. Hilton is going to be 31 and hasn’t played a full season since 2017.

Brandt said this on the duo:

"Rivers and Hilton are both coming off a down 2019. Hampered by injury and inconsistent quarterback play, Hilton barely topped 500 receiving yards, while Rivers got as close as he ever has to a 1:1 TD-to-INT ratio (23:20). But from 2012 to ’18, Hilton was the NFL’s most productive receiver on a per-catch basis (15.97 yards per reception). Rivers, meanwhile, ranked third in yards per attempt (8.5) just one season ago. With the Colts’ stout offensive line in front of Rivers, it’s not unrealistic for this pair to rediscover their mojo together in Indy."

There is a lot of hopeful thinking in that analysis and it should be noted that in the two years Hilton has been asked to produce without Andrew Luck he drops from to 14.3 yards per reception and last season he was at 11.1 yards per reception which is a pretty big fall.
