Jacksonville Jaguars

QB/WR duo ranked: N/A

While the Houston Texans have survived despite their franchise doubling down on bad decisions, the Jacksonville Jaguars haven’t always been that lucky.

In fact, they may be one of the only franchises in the NFL that hasn’t had a true “franchise” quarterback at any point in their history. I guess Mark Brunell fits that description, but those early Jaguars teams were dominated by their defenses.

I’m getting off-topic, but the fact remains that this team hasn’t had elite offensive talent in a long time despite drafting in the top-10, NINE times in since 2010.

D.J. Chark looks good, but even then it feels like he is more of a WR2 that wouldn’t be in the top-10 without a truly elite QB.

All the talk this year is how the Jacksonville Jaguars are going to tank to get their quarterback, but my question is: Why haven’t they done that already?

Sure, there were health questions about Tua Tagovailoa this season but all the tape was there. Why not just let him heal up on the bench and then play him when you are 100% confident in him? With two 1st round picks and Yannick Ngakoue as trade pieces, there is no reason why Jacksonville couldn’t have moved up for him.

Instead, the Jaguars will do what they always seem to do which is:

Step 1: Win just enough meaningless games to be out or range of a good QB

Step 2: Either pass on a QB that you aren’t creative enough to use or reach for a QB.

Step 3: Do it all again in a few years

Until they can get a competent GM and/or HC on that team, this is who they are.
