Billy Price, iOL

In this article I have given you a buy-low candidate, a former 1st rounder who should want out, one of the most underrated pass rushers of his generation and now I am going to give you someone completely out of left field.

Billy Price has been forgotten about by many despite being a 1st round pick just two years ago.

However, after a regime change in Cincy and some offseason additions it may be time for the Bengals to cut bait on a player that wasn’t drafted by the current head coach and hasn’t been taught by the current OC/OL coach.

Just look at what Bengals Wire said about him in March:

"If Price is really healthy this summer and can compete, maybe he stays in the mix at one of the guard spots. But he’s going to fight Michael Jordan on the left side and John Miller on the right and the team really likes what it has in upstarts like Fred Johnson and Isaiah Prince, who are guys potentially capable of kicking inside as depth. None of this mentions the fact the Bengals could go out and upgrade the depth chart at guard in free agency or the draft. After a new coaching staff pushed aside a prior regime’s first-round pick, it’s safe to wonder about Price. Ideally, he’ll get healthy and compete. But for now, any projections need to keep the question mark next to his name."

A flexible iOL prospect, nearly everyone was high on Price including the great Dane Brugler who said this in his summary of Price:

"A four-year starter at Ohio State, Price leaves Columbus with more games played and starts (55) than anyone else in Buckeyes’ history, splitting his playing time between both guard spots and center – Ohio State was 49-6 with Price in the starting line-up… …Price has off-the-chart intangibles and takes his leadership responsibilities seriously, which will endear him to a NFL coaching staff… …Overall, Price is one of the cleanest NFL prospects in the 2018 draft class due to his movement skills, proficient technique and brute strength, offering a collegiate resume beyond reproach – will be an immediate upgrade in a NFL locker room and on the field, projecting as a starter at guard or center."

I took some interesting things out of that to encourage you to go back and check out Brugler’s 2018 NFL Draft guide, but the production, intangibles and flexibility all scream Mike Vrabel and Jon Robinson.

Speaking of Mike Vrabel, he was actually the defensive line coach for Ohio State during Price’s freshman year and should know a lot about him as a person and/or have connections to people that know even more.

I imagine that adding Price would be very interesting to the Titans considering that they could stand some competition at right guard and the worst-case scenario he is a backup at center who has actually snapped the ball and isn’t Jamil Douglas.
