Cole McDonald QB, Hawaii

As far as day 3 picks go, Cole McDonald out of Hawaii is the one I am most excited about.

Yes I know, another quarterback from Hawaii and I know that 7th round quarterbacks don’t traditionally “hit.”

While Marcus Mariota‘s career with the Titans fizzled out, I have a feeling that Cole McDonald will be a little bit different.

With a 4.58 40 time and a 36″ vertical jump, McDonald is the latest draft pick in a long line of athletic signal-callers spanning back through Steve McNair, Vince Young, Jake Locker, and Marcus Mariota.

Not only do I think Cole McDonald will win the backup job over Logan Woodside, but I also have a feeling he might play somewhat of a role in this offense. The New Orleans Saints have seen the beauty of bringing an athletic college QB in as a swiss army knife. The Titans even tried their hand at it last year with Marcus Mariota.

The Titans should strongly consider bringing back some of these same packages that got Marcus Mariota involved to do the same with Cole McDonald. He just has a certain skill set paired with athleticism that you can’t let go to waste.
