What the experts say about Tennessee Titans in Day 2 NFL Mock Draft
By Will Lomas
CBS has always had an…interesting view of the Tennessee Titans. Whether talking about Bon Jovi potentially buying the team or the dozens of false free agent/trade connections, they have always at least tried to create some interest in Tennessee.
So what did Trapaso give them in his mock draft?
61: Neville Gallimore DT, Oklahoma
"The Titans get an interior disruptor, which became a need right after moving on from Jurrell Casey."
(Trade up with the New Orleans Saints) 88. Cam Akers RB, Florida State
"The Titans love the idea of the complementary running styles of Derrick Henry and Akers in Nashville."
The Gallimore pick seems like a waste to me. Again, this is when you try to get starters and the Titans literally don’t have a nickel CB on the roster right now which means you would really like to find one before the ones with real potential are already gone.
Drafting a running back makes sense in the 2nd or 3rd, but I don’t know if Akers really gives them a compliment to Derrick Henry. Akers is a runner who prefers to get outside, isn’t great in pass pro and whose greatest strength is making defenders miss tackles in the open field. That is also the exact same way you would describe Derrick Henry if you replaced “making defenders miss tackles” with “stiff arming defenders into oblivion” at the end.
