The Tennessee Titans had some needs and they fixed a lot of those on Day 2 of the 2020 NFL Draft.

I was very critical of Jon Robinson’s 1st round draft pick, but the Tennessee Titans GM absolutely nailed the 2nd and 3rd round.

It isn’t always about what you do first, it is what you do as a whole and while I still disagree with the player that the Titans took in the 1st round, the fact that they filled 3 of their 5 biggest needs in the first three picks is huge.

Who did they draft?

Darrynton Evans RB, App. State.

An incredibly productive player over the last two years, Evans has passed every test you could ask of a small school player.

Is he athletic?

Can he help you immediately? Not only can he give you another option as a runner (2,500+ rushing yards over the last two years), but he also lined up in the slot at times and returned kicks at a very high level.

If you find a small-school player who is athletic, productive, versatile, and doesn’t have any off the field issues then feel free to take your shot as soon as you are comfortable (which is now).

Where does he fit?

He will come in immediately as a better Dion Lewis who can also be an inside runner. He might wear multiple hats for the Titans, but you would have to think that he will immediately compete for a job as a returner and instantly slot in as the RB2.

Who else was on the board?

-James Lynch EDGE/DL, Baylor

-Amik Robertson CB, La Tech

-Troy Pride CB, Notre Dame

Who I would have drafted?

It was always going to be hard for me to decide between James Lynch and Amik Robertson here because I like both of them so much. Production, athleticism, and intangibles checked out for all three ranging anywhere from elite to above average.

Still, running back and wide receiver were the big needs here in the 3rd and if you expect the Tennessee Titans to sign Jadeveon Clowney then this pick gives you great value and pushes wide receiver to the 5th round in a historically deep wide receiver class.

THAT is how you nail Day 2 of the 2020 NFL Draft.
