Round 5, Pick 174

Broderick Washington Jr. DL, Texas Tech

The Titans sit and wait through the fourth round with no pick but get back into the action in the fifth round. With the 174th pick, the Titans start to add depth to key positions and start with the interior of the defensive line with Broderick Washington Jr. out of Texas Tech.

Washington might be the perfect fit in terms of professionalism, work ethic, and leadership that head coach Mike Vrabel enjoys. Washington was a three-year starter and was captain for two seasons who got raving reviews for his leadership abilities in college. Washington would fit right into the Titans culture.

Furthermore, Washington gives the Titans an added run-stopper in the middle. While second-year pro Jeffery Simmons gives the Titans a replacement for Jurrell Casey, the Titans need to add rotation behind DaQuan Jones. Washington is a similar player with the ability to shut down the run in the middle.

His 39 tackles lead all DL on the Texas Tech roster and can be a solid player for the Titans. While the team might eye for a cornerback here, the signing of Tye Smith probably changes focus here.
