Round 1, Pick 29

Josh Jones OT, Houston

While I expect the Titans to make moves rather than drafting at this spot, the draft shook out in a way that I was able to land OT Josh Jones out of Houston. Jones is one of the best offensive tackles in the draft and fills a huge hole at right tackle.

The 6’5”, 319-pound lineman has the size to match up with any defensive player in the league. Jones is also a phenomenal athlete given his size with a quick release off the line. Jones is a seasoned veteran after playing four years in college and starting as a true freshman for the Cougars.

Jones fills a crucial hole for the Titans left by the departure of RT Jack Conklin. While the Titans signed Dennis Kelly to an extension, the Titans need a long-term solution at the position. Given the run-heavy and play-action offense that the Titans run, Jones is the perfect fit. He has excelled in college in run plays and zone schemes that the Titans prefer.

Given the huge contract that the Titans handed out to Ryan Tannehill, they will want to ensure that he is well protected and successful. Patching up the right side of the line will be the first problem the Titans fix in this draft.
