NFL Draft: The 29 players Tennessee Titans should consider in round one
By Will Lomas
6. Mekhi Becton OT, Louisville
One of the big names excluded from my list of players who weren’t eligible for this list, I have no idea if Becton is going to go in the top-3 or fall out of the top-15.
I know that people are saying “Well he had a failed drug test” or “He can’t control his body weight” which speaks to the idea of him falling down the draft. It also doesn’t help that his three competitors for the top tackle spot went to Alabama, Georgia and Iowa.
So with those questions, I think he is going to be the 4th OT off the board and then it gets crazy. What happens if a run on wide receivers, cornerbacks or linebackers happens in the middle of the 1st round?
At a certain point if he is falling you have to wonder if these rumors are more than we thought coming into the draft and teams don’t want to draft a guy who’s “in shape” looks like 365 lb.
Obviously by his ranking on this list, I don’t agree with that.
I think that he is an absolute mauler who (like Jedrick Wills) tends to lean towards overaggressiveness instead of being too soft on defenders. Jon Robinson, Mike Vrabel and I all love that in an offensive linemen.
He also has experience at right tackle and has the athletic testing and tape to suggest that despite his size he still would it in a ZBS. If he falls don’t overthink it.
