29. Brandon Aiyuk WR, Arizona State

This is one of the more curious picks that I have seen connected to the Tennessee Titans for several reasons.

The first and foremost concern is that Aiyuk only has one year of production and he didn’t even lead his conference in receiving yards in that year. While not a major offense to scouts, you generally want to see tangible results that your first round pick is great at something or can tangibly be called one of the best in the draft class.

In terms of production both short and long term views, you can’t say that Aiyuk is that.

Another issue that I have is that his athletic testing doesn’t match what his film shows. What I mean is, he is often thought of as a “speed” receiver or a vertical threat when what he really is, is a YAC guy.

Is that valuable for the Titans? Sure, but it doesn’t do anything transformative to the offense and now you have to imagine drawing up screens and short passes to get Aiyuk the ball instead of doing the same with A.J. Brown and that seems redundant.

Still, with Aiyuk you would be getting someone with the potential to help turn a conservative offense into an explosive offense, if you still think that the Titans run a conservative offense.
