Round 7 Pick 243

Quez Watkins – WR Southern Miss

Watkins is an explosive wideout who comes off a tremendous final season at Southern Miss. He quickly gets into pass routes, runs sharp breaks and separates from defenders. He tends to stay low out of breaks and plays with balance, agility and flexibility. He is a consistent hands catcher who extends and looks the ball all the way through.

The Southern Mississippi product thrives at making the catch at full speed and comes away with the reception on crossing patterns, while also consistently displaying terrific focus and hand-eye coordination. He ran a 4.35 40-yard dash at the NFL combine and that speed often shows up on tape.

Watkins isn’t the most fluid athlete, he has tight hips that often limits the effectiveness of his routes, but he runs well enough to work vertically and across the field with modest separation due to his blazing speed.

However, if he doesn’t do a better job of getting away from press coverage, he will have a hard time making it at the next level. Ultimately, the potential far outweighs the concerns at this point in the draft, and Watkins is someone who can eventually become a quality depth receiver down the line for a Titans offense that is looking for a burner with his type of speed to take the top off a defense.
