Are the Seattle Seahawks bowing out?

Along the Tennessee Titans, the one team that has been with Clowney the entire way is the Seattle Seahawks. Given that they traded a 3rd round pick and some backup players for him before the season, it makes sense that they want to keep a guy that they liked enough to make that move for 8 months ago.

Unlike the Titans though, it seems like two weeks ago Seattle put an offer on the table and just told Clowney that he could take it or leave it but either way they were moving on as if he wasn’t part of the team.

This stands out from a recent NFL.com article:

"“The door is not closed, but we couldn’t wait any longer, we had to conduct business,” Schneider said, referencing the team’s signing of defensive ends Bruce Irvin and Benson Mayowa, via John Boyle of the team’s official site. “We’ve had great conversations. He’s just going to feel his way through this odd process and we’ll see how that goes.”"

To me, that sure seems like a team that would like to have him back, but a team that has also decided that they are alright with what they have in case he doesn’t want to re-sign with the team.

The only way to truly make sure the Seahawks are out of the race is if they draft an EDGE with their 1st round pick. If that happens then I think that the Titans will lock down Clowney quickly.
