Round 5

5th round, pick 174: Saahdiq Charles OL, LSU

I firmly believe that offensive tackle is a Day 3 need for the Tennessee Titans or at most, a Day 2 need. Right now they have Taylor Lewan, Dennis Kelly, Ty Sambrillo, and David Quessenberry all on the roster and there is no reason to assume that they don’t like Kelly after basically picking him of Jack Conklin in free agency.

In fact, if you listen to the Bussin’ with the Boys podcast, you would know that Dennis Kelly is very well respected not just in the Titans locker room but by the Philadelphia Eagles where he played before being traded for Dorial Green-Beckham.

During the podcast with Lane Johnson you can hear everyone discuss how detail-oriented he is and how much the entire group likes him.

On top of that, it wasn’t that long ago (less than a year in fact) where people were demanding that Kelly get some reps at right tackle and to move Jack Conklin inside. A year later and now people don’t think that he can start? I don’t agree.

But, landing a very talented offensive tackle from a school that constantly produced good NFL lineman is a smart move to bolster your depth chart and he has the size and athleticism to really play any of the spots on the line.

Call him a guard/tackle or whatever you need to so that you can justify his spot on the roster, but when push comes to shove, having another OL makes sense even though I wouldn’t take one in the top-100.
