Round 3

3rd round, 93rd pick: James Lynch DL/EDGE, Baylor

This goes against the Jon Robinson tradition of taking a small school player from the Senior Bowl in the third round, but Lynch is one of those players worth breaking traditions over.

Lynch was incredibly effective at Baylor this season and it caps off a career of constant improvement where he improved his tackles, TFLs, sacks, pass deflections, and forced fumbles for 3 straight years as a starter/rotational player.

He is incredibly durable and he has the frame (6’3, 290 lb.) that matches up well with the DT/EDGE flex that I think the Tennessee Titans want to add this offseason.

The All-American has the experience and football IQ to win wherever Mike Vrabel and company want to put him in the front seven. Is he going to be a speed demon, bendy pass rusher off the edge? No, but he has the upside to trade-off between being the Derrick Morgan and Jurrell Casey of this defense and that is enough for me in the third round.
