Seahawks drop out of the race

Wednesday news came out that the Seattle Seahawks and Jadeveon Clowney had hit an impasse that made it difficult to see them having a future together.

NFL.com ran a story about it where Mike Garafolo, this quote is the most telling:

"“I don’t know that he’s going to be back in Seattle. I would say that the chances are slim to none right now that he’ll be back there. They certainly did whatever they could, and if they didn’t have the strongest offer, they certainly had one that was extremely competitive. Nothing in the realm of what Clowney wants, but nobody’s living in that realm right now, to be honest with you.”"

Even though Seattle had one of the best offers on the table for Clowney, he still decided to turn them down. Also noteworthy is that even the most competitive offers aren’t where he wanted them to be.

So, since it doesn’t like this will become a true bidding war then it should all come down to fit and potential for success right? It seemed like Clowney was the Titans for the taking if they wanted him, especially since no one else had reported interest other than a rumored interest from the Browns that hadn’t amounted to anything significant.

What was the hold-up? Were the Titans interested in him?
