Titans would you rather: Jadeveon Clowney or Logan Ryan and Derek Wolfe

Option A: Jadeveon Clowney

There is a lot of value in filling two holes on the roster with $15 million, but there are few things that help a defense more than a dominant EDGE.

While Clowney isn’t statistically a great pass rusher, he reminds me a lot of a more explosive Derrick Morgan. Very stout against the run and if he ever gets matched up one on one with your second best OT or a tight end, you are going to have a lot of problems.

The big thing that makes Clowney so unique is that he has the power and explosiveness to play EDGE opposite Harold Landry in 4-3 looks with DaQuan Jones and Jeffery Simmons on the inside, but he can also kick inside to 3-tech, 4i, or 5 technique and allow Vic Beasley to come on the field next to him.

Imagine a defense with Daquan Jones, Jeffery Simmons and Jadeveon Clowney collapsing the pocket and creating pressure inside, and then on the outside you have Harold Landry and Vic Beasley screaming of the EDGE.

That dog will hunt, and in a league where it is becoming more important to be multiple and find ways to get pressure on the quarterback, having that extra DL/EDGE player who can attack all five offensive line spots is so important.
