Defensive Line

The Titans’ d-line will look noticeably different in 2020. For the first time since 2011, Jurrell Casey will not be lining up over a center or guard.

Casey is undoubtedly a Titans all-time great, but 2019 was a step back for him and it doesn’t help that he’s 30 years old making over $11 million a year.

Austin Johnson has been a staple on the Titans line since being drafted in the 2nd round of the 2016 draft, but he’s been largely underwhelming and has now signed with the New York Giants to be a backup there.

All isn’t lost for the defensive line obviously and Jeffery Simmons should make Titans fans very excited. Being fully healthy should do wonders for Simmons and I expect him to be a star in 2020.

DaQuan Jones looked like a possible cap casualty but the team shipped out Casey instead, so Jones should be back. It does seem like the Titans have a hole here however. I will be surprised if the Titans do not make an addition here before the draft.

Robinson has tried bringing guys in here before, such as Bennie Logan and Sylvester Williams, but those signings were busts.

While he could rely on Isaiah Mack to be the third defensive tackle, the depth is thin to non-existent behind that. A move needs to be made here and while it is most likely that the Titans make a second wave signing or draft someone on Day 3, could you imagine what would happen if the Titans made a call to Kansas City to see what they wanted for Chris Jones?
