Are the Tennessee Titans in the right position to take a chance in the 2020 NFL Draft?
There is a lot of speculation that the NFL should move the 2020 NFL Draft back, but it is looking increasingly less likely that the League agrees with this idea. That could be good news for the Tennessee Titans.
While on the surface it sounds like it is bad for everyone, the fact is that if the draft isn’t moved it more than likely will mean that teams who are in love with a prospect are going to be more inclined to trade up or overdraft that player rather than “trust their board”.
That idea is scary, but if you are a long time GM like Titans GM Jon Robinson, you have specific things that you are looking for and you have a strong sense of what is important to you vs what isn’t.
On the other hand, young GMs may not be as confident and may rely on the job security that you have as a first/second year GM. That means that instead of one of those guys taking a swing, they could move down and collect more picks so that they have a better case for a new contract two or three down the line (if they hit on some of those picks that is).
