2nd round, pick 56: Marlon Davidson EDGE/DL, Auburn

Not to set you up for disappointment because I think I nailed this mock draft, but this pick is probably my favorite selection in the entire simulation.

By drafting Marlon Davidson you have a great chance of getting exactly what you expect/expected Jadeveon Clowney to give you. On base downs you have a powerful run defender with enough wiggle to set the edge, but the overwhelming power to discourage runs.

If you want to keep him in on third down, be my guest because he consistently won there at the college level against some of the best talent in the game. Even if you have other players you want out there on passing downs, his quickness and size make him an ideal option to play some nickel DT as well.

All in all this is someone who will probably carry a first round value for the Titans based on his fit and tape even though they likely won’t take him that high because the draft is all about optimizing assets.

If there is a good chance Davidson will be here, the Titans would pass on him in the first round with contingencies. Luckily it didn’t come to that.
