2. D.J. Reader*, DL

I only bring up Reader because the Tennessee Titans have been linked to him at different points this offseason. If those rumors are true and he decides to stay away from the Denver Broncos, I could see him fitting in in Tennessee.

Obviously this all starts with Mike Vrabel who coached him during his time in Houston, but it also has something to do with getting the most out of the defensive linemen on this roster.

Daquan Jones and Jurrell Casey are making a lot of money for players that haven’t really been able to get to the QB consistently and if you are judging all three purely on their ability vs the run then it would go Reader, Jones then Casey.

Reader will be 26 years old this season so he still has his entire prime left to play. After taking a step forward as a disruptive force this year, it would make sense that a defense that is now being called by Mike Vrabel, would try to keep as many constants as it can.

This way you can get a 3 DL look with Reader in the middle while Jeffery Simmons and Jurrell Casey line up on the outside. If Jones doesn’t renegotiate his deal then they may have to do something there, but even if they keep him he can still be helpful in the rotation and as a niche player.

Either way I think Simmons and Reader would be a great combination on the DL for years to come.
