Delanie Walker

I have typed this scenario out several times and it really never gets easier. I mean, the guy had two touchdowns in the opener this season and he looked poised to be a big part of the offense again in 2019.

However, for the second straight year Delanie Walker has struggled with injuries and after missing the better part of two seasons it may be time for the Titans to move on from the veteran tight end.

Walker is going to be 36 in 2020 and with two years of injury concerns you just have to wonder what kind of career he has left. Making the situation worse, Walker has never been a soft tight end who is only a receiver, but rather a guy whose physicality makes him so versatile that it is hard to scheme around him.

If he can no longer play on run downs and keep defenses honest, then you have to wonder where his fit would be on this Titans roster even if he did come back. Could you start him over Jonnu Smith or Anthony Firkser who have been very good with Ryan Tannehill?

All of that combined with the $6.5 million you get in cap space for releasing him just make it too hard to keep Delanie on the roster another year.
